Improve your patient's experience by utilizing mycataractsurgery.com

The purpose of mycataractsurgery.com is to make your life as a cataract surgeon easier. When I started implementing premium lenses into my practice I found that, instead of having a better patient experience, patients were feeling more rushed because of all of the extra information we were trying to get to them. We were essentially saying “there are some amazing new lenses, one of them is right for you, they cost $5,000 and you need to decide in the next 10 minutes”. Of course, through this some patients felt rushed and frustrated. My vision was to have patients given the opportunity ahead of time to educate themselves about premium lenses by spending 30-45 minutes leisurely reading through pages on the internet before their office visit. Patients could be prepared for a shorter and more focused discussion on the lenses. In addition, patients could fill out a questionnaire online, including their cataract symptoms descriptions and have these items e-mailed to my office where they could be printed out and waiting on the patient’s chart before their visit. Imagine these scenarios…

  • A patient comes to your office. They have read about cataract surgery and premium lenses on the internet. Their cataract questionnaire is filled out indicating they have no interest or desire to pay additional charges for a premium lens. This patient is pre-screened and your office will not need to spend extra time educating or collecting information from this patient.

  • Another patient comes to your office. Their questionnaire indicates this patient desires to work at a computer without glasses, they do not drive at night, and enjoy golfing. In reading the information contained in this web site they came to understand what premium lenses can do including the pluses and minuses and are waiting for your advice regarding which lens is the right one for them.

Any of your patients will be able to access the educational material contained within these web pages. You will need to be a registered user to have access to emailed summaries of your patient’s questionnaire and cataract symptoms. The cost-savings to your practice in time and resources will probably be 10-100 times that of the yearly registration fee. I invite you to read the patient information, and think about ways to implement mycataractsurgery.com into your practice. If you would like to be listed as a participating surgeon and have patient questionnaires mailed directly to your office click here for registration information.

Sincerely,

Peter W. DeBry, M.D.
