LASIK After Cataract Surgery

If you find that after a cataract surgery you are dissatisfied with the clarity of your vision or if the intended lens was not a perfect strength for your eye, you may wish to have an enhancement procedure to improve the vision without glasses. Options include a lens exchange or piggy-back lens insertion, LASIK, or PRK. The lens exchange is typically reserved for patients who have a lens that was significantly different from the ideal power for your eye. For smaller amounts of correction a LASIK or PRK procedure would be a better choice. Most surgeons will provide refractive services at a reduced cost compared to patients who have not had recent cataract surgery, especially if a premium multi-focal or accommodating lens has been inserted. It would be beneficial to know your surgeons office policy on enhancement procedures before having your cataract surgery done.
